Partnach Gorge

While in Garmisch we decided to spend half a day hiking to Partnach Gorge. The beginning of the trail actually starts in the parking lot of the 1936 ski stadium which was kinda neat to look around.

The 1936 Olympics were known as “Hitler’s Olympics” and Hitler watched the competition from the Olympiahaus balcony, pictured below.

From the Olympic Stadium it is about a 25 minute walk to the beginning of the gorge.

It’s not a tough ‘hike’ at all. It’s mostly flat. Once you get to the entrance of the gorge it gets a little narrow in some places and occasionally it gets slippery because of all the water being dumped on you. It was a beautiful place to visit though. We plan to go back in the winter to see it frozen over!
